Good versus evil in Middle Earth

If you're a fan of a book or movie, there's nothing worse than getting the game and discovering that it's completely unrecognizable. Luckily, fans of Tolkien's masterpiece won't have this problem with The Lord of the Rings: Conquest.

This gory Lord of the Rings game is based on the actual battles featured in the story and it's quite true to the original, with Cave-trolls, Oliphaunts, Balrog and even the fearsome Sauron all feature. Campaigns will take up most of your time in The Lord of the Rings: Conquest, and boy are they fun!

What makes these epic battles so good is a combination of two factors. The settings are rich and realistic - in the context of Lord of the Rings that is - and you can also play on one of two sides, good or evil. This is a macabre change from the norm, but it does make things more exciting.

To make the battles in The Lord of the Rings: Conquest even better, you can play with up to 16 players online or collaborate with 4 in a split-screen mode. The gameplay is acceptable, but for all but the most dedicated Lord of the Rings fans, the massive battles and interesting points of view might not quite compensate.

The Lord of the Rings: Conquest is an immersive good vs. evil battle that will keep Tolkien fans amused for hours.

PROS

  • Excellent battles from the book
  • Full range of characters
  • Play as a goodie or a baddie!

CONS

  • Gameplay not the best ever
  • Can get frustrating and repetitive
